First Special Needs Program In Texas To Begin In The Fall at A&M

Texas A&M's latest program Aggie ACHIEVE will help young students with intellectual and developmental disabilities who dream of attending a four-year university a reality.

The program is the first of its kind in the state and is all about creating a completely normal environment for young adults with special needs. According to the A&M website, Aggie Achieve students will live on campus, participate in TAMU classes, join clubs and organizations, prepare for inclusive employment, and integrate fully into student life at Texas A&M University. A truly awesome program.

Aggie ACHIEVE will provide an inclusive and immersive college education for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and equip them for employment in the community.

I'm all about a solid acronym and 'ACHIEVE' is A1 (Academic Courses in Higher Inclusive Education and Vocational Experiences).

Right now the Aggies are a step ahead. Let's hope other schools follow suit sooner rather than later.
