The Copperas Cove Fire Department is investigating a Tuesday afternoon vehicle fire now believed to have been an act of arson.

Deputy Fire Chief Gary D. Young reports that fire crews responded to a vehicle fire in the 300 block of Casa Drive at around 3:17 PM Tuesday. When they arrived, they found a vehicle engulfed in flames in the back area of a car wash.

The Copperas Cove Fire Marshal's Office determined that the fire was an act of arson, and they've released a surveillance still of a man captured on camera walking away from the vehicle immediately prior to it going up in flames.

The image isn't very clear, but the fire marshal is hoping someone out there might recognize the man, or may have seen something that could help with the investigation.

If you think you can help, give the Copperas Cove Fire Marshal's Office a call at (254) 542-2514 ext. 6303, or contact Copperas Cove Crime Stoppers at (254) 547-1111 or tipsubmit.com.

You do not have to give Crime Stoppers your name, and information leading an arrest and conviction could net you a cash reward of up to $1,000.
