A prevention workshop will be held next Wednesday, September 14th at Central Texas College.

The workshop will look to focus on what can be done in ways of prevention of the onset of suicide risk. You'll learn how to connect with, understand and assist a person/or persons at risk for suicide.

Guest speakers will start the event at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. Guest speakers include Clarena Tobon, co-founder and chairperson of Hope Happens and co-facilitator of the prevention and support group Survivors of Suicide Loss - Greater Fort Hood. Kelly Shewmaker, community liaison at Cedar Crest Hospital in Belton will also be speaking.

The workshop will be held in the Anderson Campus Center on CTC, building 156.  Several information tables will be available until 3 p.m. after the presentations. Plus, representatives from a variety healthcare and social service organizations will be offering literature on suicide prevention, safety and security, alchohol and addiction, and resources for assistance with other self-destructive issues.

The CTC Suicide Prevention Workshop is free and open to the public.
