All Texas State Fraternities Suspended after Pledge Death
The death of a pledge on Sunday has resulted in the suspension of all fraternities and sororities currently affiliated with Texas State University, as seen on KXXV.com.
Matthew Ellis was found unresponsive on Monday morning by the San Marcos Police Department. He was declared dead after EMS personnel were unable to revive him.
Texas State President Deise M. Trauth released the following statement:
"I have asked Dr. Joanne Smith, Vice President for Student Affairs, who has responsibility for the Greek Affairs system, to immediately initate this review and propose recommendations for reinstating fraternity and sorority chapters that demonstrate a commitment to the core values of Texas State and the ideals established by their respective national organizations."
