Donuts are a wonderful creation. No one can deny that a donut can put a smile on someone's face if they are feeling down. Personally, I love a good Boston Cream donut.

But why talk about this snack now? Well Yelp has revealed their top 100 donut shops in the nation. And number 1 is right here in the Lone Star State.

It shouldn't be surprising that the best donut shop is in Texas, but we move on.

So where is the best donut shop in the nation located? None other than Round Rock, Texas! The aptly named Round Rock Donuts is described by Yelp as such:

"They sell more than 200 dozen donuts most days, including glazed, chocolate, and decadent flavors like Cream Bismarck (filled with white buttercream and topped with chocolate icing). Apple fritters, cinnamon rolls, and kolaches (a Czech pastry popular in Texas) are also local favorites. A second location is now open in nearby Cedar Park."

Also, in researching what makes the place so unique, I discovered what and why this donut shop is above the rest:

Oh my goodness. Look at those things! I'm not even sure that's just a snack.

It looks more like a late breakfast, early lunch if we're being real. This now makes me want to get one of the Round Rock donuts and share it with the office. I feel like we could all at least maybe eat half of the donut.

But if there's a way to get another Round Rock Donuts in Temple or Killeen, we must get it here soon. Because I really want a donut now...

Speaking of places that should come to Temple...

A while back, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article).

So now Dutch Bros. is open in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.

Here are the top 20 results of the survey. Let's see what the good people of Temple are craving!

Don't like donuts? How about ice cream?

Blue Bell is the official ice cream of Texas, and my personal favorite. According to a new list of the 15 best brands of ice cream nationwide, Blue Bell was ranked in the middle.

In addition to ingredients, texture, and variety, Tasting Table used Influenster and other site reviews as part of its ranking process.

Scroll on to find out how Blue Bell compared to the number one ice cream, and how all 15 on the list were judged.

This Temple, Texas DoorDasher Helped an Elderly Woman Get Fresh Start

Shelby Moeller never imagined that an odd request while delivering for Door Dash would lead to a life-changing experience for him as well as an elderly woman who needed more than food.

He described his initial encounter on Facebook, thanking people who offered to help the 78-year-old woman he named 'Jane Doe' to protect her privacy. On March 20th, he was able to share some amazing news on Facebook.

"Many of you probably remember my post last week about door dashing and coming across an elderly woman in deplorable conditions. When I made the post, I was thinking that I just needed to raise awareness that our elderly right here in our community are often alone, forgotten, and in need of help. I never imagined that through my post, God was going to provide a small but mighty army of volunteers that would jump in and save Jane Doe."

Jane Doe had to be moved out of her apartment while biohazard disinfecting was done by Spotless Crime Clean. All furniture, carpet, and most of her possessions had to be thrown away. There was also no edible food, as everything in the kitchen was either expired or infested with insects.

Shelby was able to spend some time with the woman, who he described as his 'new adopted grandma'. He learned about her background, and how she had struggled throughout her entire life, being reduced to having nothing multiple times. She had developed some hoarding behaviors, and he believed that some of that was due to her fear of losing everything again.

Take a look at the before and after photos of the amazing transformation of her home that changed a Central Texas woman's life and helped her start over in a healthy environment.
