'Big Tex'  is up and ready to greet guests at the State Fair of Texas that starts next Friday.

A giant crane was used Friday morning to lift the 55-foot cowboy according to Tulsi Kamath of KXAN.

The only thing standing around the cactus surrounded post was his pair of brand new boots. To read about Katie Sauceda's contest-winning designed boots click here.

Putting up his size 96 boots took ten men and a crane. If it was the same crew that put the rest of him up it was a warm-up.

This is the sixty-seventh-year Big Tex has stood at the fair. He's seen it all and even burned down seven years ago.
