Texas Burial For George Floyd

George Floyd is set to be buried in Pearland next to his mother at Houston Memorial Gardens.

According to a report from KHOU, a private funeral was held for George Floyd at Fountain of Praise Church on Tuesday. The Houston Police department will be escorting Floyd's body to his final resting place at Houston Memorial Gardens, where he will be placed next to his mother.

On Monday, a ceremony was held for the public, where over 6.300 people attended. Floyd's death has sparked protests across the nation and has re-ignited the fight for the end of police brutality and racial injustice.

At the funeral, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner announced his plan to ban choke-holds on citizens being detained by police, according to a report by the Washington Post. Several other cities and states have also banned choke-holds since Floyd's tragic death.

While we're unsure how long it will take, WE WILL receive justice for George Floyd, and WE WILL continue to fight against racism.
