Suspect Charged With Murder of Teen in Belton

Belton police have arrested a man in connection to the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy.

The suspect was identified as 18-year-old John Ryan Osborn of rural Belton. He was taken into custody without incident Friday, January 10 and charged with murder. Police say Osborn was booked into the Bell County Jail. His inmate roster listing was not available at the time of this article's publication. We will update this post with that information and mug shot when possible.

Osborn is accused of fatally shooting the teen in the 1600 block of South Wall Street around 8 PM January 2. According to police, the victim collapsed after entering a home at which he'd been staying. It was discovered that he'd been shot in the back, and neighbors reported having heard two gunshots in the area.

The victim was transported to Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Temple, where he was pronounced dead.
