Our Central Texas firefighters got after it early this morning when a call came in from Moody, Texas about a house that caught fire around 2 am.

Residents of the home awoke to the smell of smoke and quickly got themselves out of the house. Firefighters had to go back in to try and find the family's dog. It was brought out of the house safely. No one was injured as several departments responded in the below freezing temperatures on Monday morning.

We would like to thank the fire departments of Moody, Moffat, Morgan’s point and Bruceville Eddy who responded to the fire. Scott Benson who is the Moffat Fire Chief told KWTX that crews had to remove a metal roof so they could get at all the hotspots in the home. In total, it took about three hours to put out the fire.

The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time. Temple EMS was able to arrive at the scene with clothes, blankets and a car seat for the family thanks in part to donations from McLane Children's Hospital.
