According to press release from Land O'Lakes, the new packaging for butter and dairy products will feature the farmers who produce Land O'Lakes products. The company began in 1921, and started using the image of a Native American woman a few years later.

As soon as I heard the news, I ran to my fridge to see if the familiar face was still there on my package of butter. Luckily, she is! I'm wondering if now is the time to save this box to market in the future as antique.

After almost 100 years, I guess it's okay to change up your image. Beth Ford, President and CEO of Land O’Lakes stated in the press release, “As Land O’Lakes looks toward our 100th anniversary, we’ve recognized we need packaging that reflects the foundation and heart of our company culture—and nothing does that better than our farmer-owners whose milk is used to produce Land O’Lakes’ dairy products.”

The new packaging will feature images of the real farmers behind the products and will include an assortment of phrases like, "Since 1921" and "Proud to be Farmer-Owned: As a farmer-owned co-op, we stand together to bring you the very best in dairy."

Expect to see this new packaging in stores in the Spring/Summer. The Native American woman will not be featured on packaging after 2020.
