Nothing like 10 inches of snow to remind you that winter has arrived in Texas.

Residents in Lubbock spent the weekend digging themselves out of a winter storm that dumped snow in parts of West and North Texas. The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal officially reported 10 inches of snow fell on the city.

The National Weather Service recorded 9 inches of snow snowfall in Littlefield (northwest of Lubbock) and around 3 inches of snow in the Wichita Falls area. Plenty of closures and cancelations came with the winter weather. Students at Texas Tech University saw final exams canceled on Saturday because of the weather. Lubbock officials said they lucked out being able to treat the roads before the snow hit. Once the storm passed the local roadways quickly became driveable as temps rose back above freezing.

In Central Texas, we will be looking at temps between the mid 50's and low 60's for the week. We will gladly take the rain over the snow any time. If it's snow you are looking for then check out Temple's Bend of the River this weekend. Bend of the River Christmas features a real snow party. That's a close as we would like to get to wintry weather.
