A vehicle was stolen after the owner left the car running to go inside a store.

According to a report from the Killeen Police Department, last Monday a Pontiac Vibe was stolen from the 800 block of E. Rancier Ave.

The owner of the Pontiac parked the car outside of the store, and left the vehicle unlocked with the keys in the ignition. In surveillance images released by police, a man is seen approaching the vehicle and then entering it and driving away.

Please remember to always, always ALWAYS:

LOCK your car,
TAKE your keys, and
HIDE your belongings

Don't make it easy for a thief. Deter a break-in by following the above steps.

The Pontiac was found a few hours later after being involved in a wreck on I-14. The suspect left the scene of the accident on foot, and has yet to be apprehended.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have seen anything or has information about this stolen vehicle case, to contact Crime Stoppers at 254-526-TIPS (8477) or go online at www.bellcountycrimestoppers.com.
