Political Sides Messing With Texans Love Life
Have you ever found yourself really liking someone until you found out who they voted for in 2020? You're not alone! Apparently, politics seems to play a big role in our dating lives!
As the 2024 election nears, many voters across Texas are proudly proclaiming their endorsements for their preferred political candidate; however, who you choose to support could put a damper on the dating life of many Texans.
According to Invigor Medical and their study titled: The Politics of Passion: A 2024 Study on Politics & Sexual Behavior, Texans and their political views affected their dating lives.
Invigor Medical survey found that the cultural and political climate of a state can affect your relationship status- and in Texas, which is predominantly a Republican state, they found that:
- 12% of Republicans express reluctance towards engaging with those who have significantly different political beliefs.
- However, 15% of Texas Republicans are open to pursuing relationships despite political differences, which suggests a more nuanced perspective within the state.
The percentage is kind of low, so even if you do have differing political views, there's a chance that the relationship may persevere! The survey found that 46% of those surveyed are willing to pursue relationships despite political differences, indicating a slightly more open stance compared to other conservative regions.
One major key finding was that only 7% of Americans believe matching political views with sexual partners is critical, regardless of ideology. Surprisingly, 6 out of 10 Americans are willing to continue sexual activity despite changes in their partner's political views. So there's a pretty good chance that despite how you're planning to vote in the 2024 election, your dating life won't take a huge hit!
