Human Cannonball From Texas, Way Lucky To Be Alive
What goes up must come down ... and, as this Texas stuntman just learned the hard way, it doesn't always do it where you want it to.
A Texas daredevil, who calls himself "The Rocketman" has been doing his human cannonball thing for 25 years. Damn near 3 decades which, honestly, makes me question the old "practice makes perfect" adage.
His most recent gig in California didn't go exactly as planned but, on the upside, he paid a relatively small price for his misadventure. Considering ...
... that he may have been doing as much as 55mph when things went south and he missed his mark. The moral of this story is, if you're going to get shot out of a cannon, check the weather. Especially the prevailing winds.
Propelled into the air, a left-to-right wind carried him off course. He hit the right edge of his net, tumbled to the pavement, got knocked out cold, and woke up in an ambulance 20 minutes later. - wfaa
Careful, the video of his "landing" may be a little intense for some folks.
Thankfully alive and, for the most part, well, Chachi "The Rocketman" Valencia got off with just a broken wrist, a few broken ribs and a bleeding liver. The "baller" said he chalks it up to a judgement call. Hello?? He climbs into a cannon, thinks about it a minute and then says either "fire" or "forget it". Every damn stunt in his career has been a judgement call.
Anyway, it seems Chachi is sort of a 1 trick pony and can't really do anything else for a living. "It's not like I can stop this tomorrow and get some other job or something," he said.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help Chachi get better and back in the saddle, err, cannon. Hopefully, he'll use some of the money to buy a wind sock.
