Killeen, Texas is dealing with another murder investigation that has taken the death tally well above the 12 homicides that occurred within city limits last year. It is believed that in just a little over the first 2/3rds of this year Killeen has experienced 16 murders, and that has the city on pace to surpass 20 killings for 2024.

Just before midnight this morning, Killeen Police were called to do a welfare check on a residence just north of the Killeen Mall on the 2700 block of Taft Street, and upon entering the home, they discovered a body that appeared to have been the victim of at least one gunshot wound.

Just after midnight at 12:47 AM, Justice of the Peace Nicola James declared the victim dead at the scene, and ordered an autopsy to be conducted by Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences based in Dallas.

According to this article with KCEN, the victim was later identified as a 53 year old woman named Elizabeth Rosario Quick, and the police have determined the incident to be domestic in nature. No word on if a suspect has been identified or is being held.
