Austin, Texas has a quiet community that is now reeling from the loss of their beloved 83 year old neighbor after she was found murdered in her home alongside her dog that had also been killed.

Why have Austin, Texas police arrested an 84 year old man for murder?

According to this KVUE article, Jack Moore, 84, was the roommate of 83 year old Linda Mlsna (known to many as Ms. Jeane), and they lived in a nice corner lot home in the University Hills area of northeast Austin. Earlier this week Austin Police were called to perform a welfare check on Mlsna when a family member had been unable reach her in over a week.

Mlsna was found in a downstairs closet with her dog on top of her, and they both had been killed in what authorities described as a "very brutal" attack.

After finding Mlsna's body, they were able to quickly track the movements of Moore because he was allegedly using her credit cards. Upon targeting Moore as a person of interest, it was learned he had an active warrant for his arrest, and that is when the US Marshals got involved.

Moore is now being held in the Travis County Jail after telling authorities he killed Ms. Jeane, and was planning to leave the country.
