Central Texas Schools Have Big Coaching Changes on the Way
Three Schools in the Central Texas area are changing up their football coaching staffs. Temple ISD, Little River-Academy, and Gatesville ISD are all replacing the head coaches of their football programs. Temple ISD and Gatesville ISD have already named the new coaches, meanwhile, Little-River Academy is still looking for a new head coach.
Temple ISD
Temple ISD is keeping it in the family. The school announced that the new head coach is actually an alumni of the high school that helped the team make it to the State Championship in 2014. Chad President, who previously was the offensive coordinator at Rockwall Heath High School and Midway High School. He will be replacing Scott Stewart who stepped down in December.
Gatesville ISD
Gatesville ISD posted on their Facebook page that they have recommended Jose Aguirre as their new head coach to the school board. Aguirre will be replacing Aaron Hunter if he is approved by the school board. Jose has been the defensive coordinator for the team prior to this announcement.
Little River-Academy
Little River-Academy has not named a new head coach since it was announced that Head Coach Mark Mullins' would no longer be leading the team after the completion of the 2024 football season. Mullins coached the team to a 10-3 season in 2023, but in 2024 their record was just 2-9. Hopefully a change in the coaching staff can lead to a better season in 2025.
I'll be keeping a close eye on our local teams this season, and we'll see how these changes affect the teams both on and off the field. The coaches have a big impact on the players' lives. It's a big responsibility that heavily influences the young men on these teams. I'm pulling for all the teams as far as that is concerned.
