Kacey Musgraves’ Strong Reaction Says It All After Beyoncé’s Victory
The 67th Annual Grammy Awards gave us one of the most honest reactions from a nominee when after the winner of the award was announced, and that nominee was Kacey Musgraves after hearing Beyoncé being named the winner for Best Country Album.
Kacey Musgraves, who was born in Golden, Texas, was nominated for Best Country Album for her album Deeper Well. Kacey was nominated along with Beyonce for Cowboy Carter, Post Malone for F-1Trillion, Chris Stapleton for Higher, and Lainey Wilson for Whirlwind. This was Musgraves 17th Grammy nomination.
Taylor Swift presented the 2025 Grammy Award for Album of the year. While it may not have been a complete surprise when Taylor announced Beyoncé's name there were certainly some people that were disappointed when it wasn't Kacey Musgraves' name called out in the moment. Kacey won Country Album of the year in 2014 and 2019, and she also won Album of the year in 2019 as well.
The camera's panned through the crowd to get a great mix of everyone's reaction after Beyoncé was announced as the winner. Beyoncé, herself, looked genuinely shocked to have been awarded Country Album of the Year. Meanwhile, Lainey Wilson might as well have won the award herself based on the look of enthusiasm she had as she cheered on Beyoncé's groundbreaking victory, clapping and beaming like a proud fan in the front row. Kacey Musgraves, however, didn't look so pleased. She clapped along with the rest of the audience, but the look on her face told a different story which was somewhere between forced enthusiasm and quiet contempt.
