Our community is a pretty great place to live, but Killeen, Texas has not been immune to violence and tragedy. We all know about some of the big examples, but there are cases we shouldn't allow to be forgotten because they still haven't been solved. That means families are still awaiting answers and closure.

 

One of those cases was the murder of a little girl named Danydia Thompson. Authorities are stilling seeking any help they can get in this nearly 30-year-old cold case. Do you know anything that could bring her family peace?

April 30th, 1997, The Day Of Danydia's Disappearance

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on the morning of April 30th in 1997, Danydia and two of her cousins left their home to walk to school. Danydia was supposed to go to Marlboro Heights Elementary School, but she never made it.

Last reports indicated she was seen upon the shoulders of an unidentified black man.

His description was as follows by Texas DPS:

- Black male 5'10" to 5'11"
- Short "afro" style hair and a thick mustache
- Last seen wearing dark colored clothing with Danydia on his shoulders, "piggy back"

That was the last time Danydia was seen. Following her disappearance, a search was ordered that did not result in finding the young girl. However on May 8th, 1997, a search group discovered Danydia's body on the side of a rural highway in Killeen.

Since the discovery, the case has remained unsolved for an extended period of time. But you can help find the individual responsible.
