The Most Amazing Veterans Day Discounts Here in Texas
Ten-hut!
Veterans Day is quickly approaching! As a Marine Corps Veteran, myself, I always look forward to the appreciation shown to us through free things and discounts at my favorite shops, restaurants, and entertainment complexes!
Gather Recon
A great deal of resources is available online and throughout your community to find the best discounts available to you in your area. I have gathered some of my favorites from reddit.com, military.com, and word of mouth from some other fellow veterans.
MREs (Meals Ready to Enjoy)
Your favorite neighborhood grill and bar, Applebee's, is proud to thank our veterans for their service by providing a complimentary off of a special menu.
IHOP has a free stack of Red, White and Blue pancakes for veterans and active-duty military as well.
Since you aren't active duty anymore, and you should check out Golden Corral. You don't have to maintain any height or weight standards anymore, so enjoy the guilt free buffet for free.
Resupply Operations
Have you been holding out on a few unnecessary items because they don't fit in the budget? Well, here are a few stores and websites that are offering discounts to those who served as well.
Amazon has a 20% discount. Now is the time to pull up all those items that you clicked on "save for later" and pull the trigger on those not so necessary desires.
Have you become a bit of a couch potato? Ashley Furniture is providing 10% off at any of their participating stores.
What good is a couch without a big TV to watch while sitting on it? Samsung is offering 30%. You're basically losing money if you don't buy one now.
Liberty Call
Now that you are well fed and you've bought a few things (or had it given to you for free, it's time to get outside for a little recreational activity.
Six Flags has free entry into their theme parks for veterans and active-duty members.
Texas is offering free admission into the state parks as a sign of appreciation on Veterans Day. Other states may offer discounts or provide free entry as well.
AMC Theaters is offering free large popcorn. That's an amazing since the snacks are usually more than the movie ticket.
Sick Call
The last thing that I want to include here is available all of the time. Contact your local VSO (Veterans Service Officer). They have a wealth of knowledge to help you understand what benefits are available to you now that you are no longer an active-duty service member. The VA earned itself a terrible reputation, but it has done a great job in rehabilitating that image over the last couple of decades. If you are having medical issues, financial issues, or you are just unsure of whether or not you rate any benefits at all they can help you get the answers and help you deserve.
You sacrificed a lot for this country. I know you hear the phrase "Thank you for your service" whenever anyone finds out that you were in the military. That doesn't necessarily help you feel better if you are holding onto some trauma that you experienced while in the military.
The number 22 may not seem very big, but that is the number of veterans that commit suicide every day. If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts or ideations, please call 911 or the Suicide Prevention Line at 988.
Remember. You are not alone!
