Texas Superstar Beyoncé Receives Backlash Following Country Grammy Win
Last night, Texas native Beyoncé Knowles-Carter won Best Country Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Beyoncé broke barriers in ways that haven’t been done before. This is a woman of color, known for R&B and hip-hop music, who made a crossover album into country. The album, Cowboy Carter, was released on March 29, 2024. This was Beyoncé’s eighth studio album, and while the Beehive fans were ecstatic about it, not everyone shared the same excitement. You couldn’t go anywhere without hearing the Beyoncé album.

Beyonce Wins Her First Country Grammy
Despite having one of the biggest country albums of the year, Beyoncé was practically shut out of the 2024 Country Music Awards. Keep in mind that Beyoncé’s album spent 22 weeks on the Billboard 200—an accomplishment that should have been celebrated. However, she was told there was no room for her in the country music world.
Last night, the Grammys proved otherwise. Looking somewhat shocked, the 43-year-old American singer and businesswoman won her very first country Grammy award. Once the news broke on social media, things took a turn. Racial slurs were used, and many people said she wasn’t talented and didn’t deserve the award. Texans were particularly upset.
Why Can't You Be Happy For Beyonce Win?
I’m a firm believer that the numbers don’t lie, and Beyoncé’s success, despite the criticism and being told she didn’t belong, says a lot. It’s frustrating to see so many people upset over her achievement—so much so that it makes you wonder: Do you know Beyoncé? Does she owe you money? Why does it concern you this much that this woman won the award? No one's accomplishment should concern you that much!
I believe a win is a win, and she won this one for Texas. As a state, we should all be proud.
