How Much Does It Cost To Make Improvements In The City?

The improvements along Gilmer Street, stretching from Veterans Memorial Boulevard to Rancier Avenue, totaled nearly $4.5 million. The project included a full roadway reconstruction, utility upgrades involving water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems, as well as sidewalk enhancements and pedestrian accessibility improvements.

What Is The Benefits Of The Improved Roads?

Torrie Bethany, Executive Director of Communications and Marketing for the city of Killeen, stated that Gilmer Street has served the community for decades, but over time, both the roadway and underground infrastructure could no longer support the area’s growing needs. Bethany added that the project allowed the city to rebuild the corridor from the ground up with long-term improvements that will better serve residents, businesses, and visitors for years to come. After personally driving down Gilmer Street, I can say the improvements are impressive. The city certainly has something to be proud of.
