(Austin, TX) A Texas-based Mexican-American brand has finalized a deal to be acquired by a major corporation.

The story of Siete Foods is one that Hollywood studios will one day line up and write scripts about. Its the Texas business dream come true: Family starts small business and works hard to become one of the most well known brands and becoming generationally wealthy from it.

Siete, or Garza Food Ventures LLC, was created ten years ago in South Texas by co-founder Veronica Garza.

As a teenager, Garza was diagnosed with multiple autoimmune diseases, including lupus. In order to combat her health struggles, she worked alongside her mother to produce unique recipes, eventually crafting an almond flour-based tortilla. Siete brought all seven (siete) members of the Garza family together on their journey to health.

Ten years later, the thriving business offers a wide variety of healthy products, including grain-free Fuego potato chips and Tortillas, Enchilada Sauces, Taco Seasonings, Botana Sauces, Mexican Cookies, Vegan Beans, Grain Free Puffs, and Salsas  Cassava flour tortillas and Tangy Traditional sauce.

Siete sells its products not just in Texas, but throughout parts of the United States while its manufacturing site is currently in Austin. On a personal note, I've become a believer and fan of their products including their Grain-Free Tortilla chips and salsa made from all natural products.

In 2024, PepsiCo announced a $1.2 billion agreement to purchase Siete Foods, a Mexican-American brand that sells chips, tortillas, sauces and more.

PepsiCo which already includes Lay's, Doritos, Cheetos, Gatorade, Pepsi-Cola, Mountain Dew, Quaker, and SodaStream, says that the acquisition will complement its portfolio with the addition of an authentic, Mexican-American brand, while also growing its better-for-you food offerings.

The deal was finalized on Jan. 17th. In most cases when you hear about a big corporation acquiring a smaller family brand, they cut corners and costs so hopefully that doesn't happen.
