Tuesday, November 4, is Election Day in Texas. If you’re ready but have never been to the polls, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to vote.

Step 1: Check if you are registered to vote. Click HERE to quickly verify whether you are registered to vote or not. If you’re registered, move on to step 2.

Step 2: Find YOUR designated polling location. Click HERE to locate yours.
Step 3: Bring your photo ID. Here are the acceptable forms of ID:
  • Texas Driver's License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
  • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
  • Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
  • Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
  • United States Military Identification Card containing the person’s photograph
  • United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph
  • United States Passport (book or card)
Step 4: Head to the polls and cast your vote!

There are a few rules to follow while at the polls.

“In Texas, a person may not wear apparel or a similar communicative device relating to a candidate, measure, or political party, regardless of whether they are on the ballot or not.”
Also, you may not use any device that could record sound or take photos, including a phone, tablet, laptop, or tape recorder, are among the few.
