But the lady in the video at the bottom of this article was in for a big surprise when she walked out her front door and met a beautiful male peacock, just casually strolling through her yard like it owned the place.

Acting Like He Owns the Place

The peacock didn’t seem lost or scared. It just kept walking around, pecking at the grass, like it was totally normal for a fancy bird to show up in a Texas neighborhood.


Most Likely a Neighbor's Pet.

Even though peacocks aren’t wild animals in Texas, people do keep them as pets or on farms. Sometimes they escape and go on little adventures. This one probably wandered off from a nearby ranch that has a lot of animals.

Yes, peacocks are legal to own as pets in Texas. The state does not classify them as exotic or dangerous animals, so no special permit is required to keep them. Many people in Texas keep peacocks on farms, ranches, or even as backyard pets because they help control pests
