When looking at statistics for seniors in Texas, it was interesting to see that about 12.9% of the Texas population is seniors or about 3.7 million people. Texas still has work to do when caring for our seniors, as we rank 40th in health care for seniors. We have so many fantastic health professionals in Texas, but it can be difficult to provide care for all the rural areas across the state.

The 2020 County Health Rankings values were calculated using mortality counts from the 2016-2018 National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.
