Texas Casino Battle Heats Up as Sands Pours in Millions
(KNUE-FM) It’s been a hot debate in Texas over the past few years. Will the Lone Star State soon allow casino gambling and, if so, when will we start seeing big casinos being built around Texas? The questions continue although according to NBCDFW, The Las Vegas Sands is ready to put up millions of dollars to make it happen.
Why Las Vegas Sands Is Targeting Texas
We already know that gambling is allowed in the states surrounding Texas. Which means if players want to try their luck, they need to take their dollars across the border. But that means our home state is losing out on the revenue, although some would rather keep gambling and casinos out of Texas.

Inside the Proposed North Texas Casino Resort
The Las Vegas Sands group wants to put a luxury hotel in North Texas similar to the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. That casino employs 12,000 people within its 55 stories and brings billions into the local economy.

The Constitutional Roadblock Standing in the Way
The big problem is the Texas Constitution does not allow for casino gaming. But they aren’t afraid to fight as the company has said they are willing to spend tens of millions of dollars over the next few years to convince lawmakers and voters to change the current rules.
There are Christian conservative groups that worry about what big casinos could bring to Texas including prostitution, increased crime, drugs, alcohol, and gambling addiction.
I can understand where both sides are coming from. But I would love to know your thoughts. Do you think big casinos in Texas would be a good idea? Let me know, email me, billy.jenkins@townsquaremedia.com.
