When the largest airport in Texas makes a big change, it’s something we should all know about.

And recently as I was leaving the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, I saw a sign that caught my attention. Beginning in just a few weeks, on February 1, 2025 the major airport will no longer accept cash as a form of payment for people using it’s exit plazas.

Why is DFW Going Cashless for Parking?

The airport is doing this in an attempt to reduce wait times and keep traffic flowing through the almost always busy airport. This will be especially helpful during the busy travel seasons.

How Will People Pay for Parking at DFW Once They Go Cashless?

While cash will no longer be an option beginning in February, there will still be lots of options to pay for your parking. Toll tags will be the quickest way to get through the exit plazas.

You will also be able to use your debit or credit cards for payment. Airport visitors will also have the option to use contactless payment options such as Google Pay or Apple Pay.

Don’t forget at DFW you can also prebook and even prepay for parking, which can make parking much easier.

While change can be difficult, as someone who enjoys traveling, I am all for doing whatever is best to speed up those lines as were all trying to leave the airport. It seems like I always get stuck behind the slowest person attempting to pay for parking.
