(KNUE-FM) Back in 2024 there was a shooting that took place in East Texas off County Road 1804 that left 17-year-old Jayden Polk deceased according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. And ever since that shooting one of the suspects has been evading capture.

Background on the 2024 Cherokee County Shooting

According to law enforcement the shooting took place on February 14, 2024 and since then Randarriuz Dewberry, now 20, had been hiding out in Houston and working under a false name, but his time on the run from law enforcement is now over. The suspect was apprehended by Texas Highway Patrol officers during a traffic stop on FM 346 just outside of Bullard.

This is the second person who has been arrested in regard to the 2024 shooting.

Charges and Bond Information

Dewberry is now charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon from the shooting that took place. But he added additional charges of evading arrest or detention and failure to identify. Dewberry will also face charges of failure-to-appear on charges related to evading arrest or detention charge.

His bonds are now set at a total of $1,085,000 in surety bonds and $10,000 cash bonds.

Previous Arrest in the Case

The other suspect who was arrested in regard to this shooting is Isiah Mallord of Jacksonville. Mallord was injured at the time of the shooting.

According to reports, the victim of the shooting was a junior at Jacksonville High School.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty We are glad to report no law enforcement officers were injured while making the arrest.
