Morriss Elementary Earns 2025 Texas Honor Roll Recognition

TISD's Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics & Engineering Elementary in Texarkana has been named to the 2025 Texas Honor Roll, placing the campus among the top-performing public schools in the state for student achievement and academic growth.

Statewide Recognition for Academic Excellence

The Texas Honor Roll is released annually by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and recognizes schools demonstrating strong academic outcomes across diverse student populations. This year marks the 11th year ERP has conducted the Honor Roll analysis.

Only 1,076 schools statewide, about 15 percent of all eligible Texas schools, earned the designation in 2025. Selections were based on objective student performance data from the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) covering the 2023 - 2025 academic years.

“This recognition highlights the outstanding work taking place daily at Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics & Engineering Elementary,” said Dr. Doug Brubaker, Superintendent of Texarkana ISD. “Our students, educators, and campus leadership continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence and innovation.”

Morris Elementary Principal Patti O’Bannon said the honor reflects a shared effort across the campus.

“This recognition represents the dedication of our teachers and staff and the hard work of our students. We are proud to provide a learning environment where all students are supported and encouraged to succeed.”

The Texas Honor Roll is presented by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence, in collaboration with the Texas Business Leadership Council, as part of a statewide effort to recognize schools preparing students for future success.
