The breed's popularity owes itself to many factors. It's adorable, a great companion, and its size makes it a perfect pet for apartment dwellers.

If you took a door-to-door poll of dogs living in the state of Texas, I'm sure mutts and/or mixed breeds would easily be a the top of the list. However, I guess mutts are not an official breed and were not considered for this study.

I have two rescue dogs under my roof. One is a combo Chihuahua/Pomeranian, while the other looks to be a mix of a retriever and...something else. Whatever that something else is, it sheds a lot.
