Habitat’s Veteran Housing Project Is Seeking Volunteers

It's an exciting time at Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity as they move closer to completing a neighborhood of homes for our veterans. While they broke ground on the new neighborhood in 2018, Habitat for Humanity is seeking dozens of volunteers to continue completing the project.

About 20 to 25 volunteers are needed for shifts on February 2nd and 3rd, and again on February 8th and 9th. If you are interested in helping the veterans and this project, you'll want to check out the Habitat for Humanity organization requirements. You can locate the information here. You don't need to have prior construction experience to help. In fact, Habitat for Humanity is a great place to not only help others but to pick up some basic skills!

I used to do a Habitat for Humanity project every summer while in High School. You get to travel to new places, meet new people, and I learned a lot! During my habitat projects, I learned how to shingle a roof, install insulation in a home, some basic electrical wiring, lots of hammer and nail time.

You really don't need much more than a desire to help. Even basic skill sets like painting all the way down to being able to mow the grass around the new houses are all a needed skillset. Met some great friends along the way. The gratitude of the people who live in Habitat Homes lasts forever. It's a great experience.
