In case you were wondering why the flags looked lower today.

You ever just get in the car and drive? Not really caring where you're going. I'm a bit of a homebody, and I have to do this every once in awhile. I notice things that you might see every day, but I haven't noticed. I've driven around before and saw flags at half-staff, and I'd wonder why. Well you might see that today.

No, it's not because of Tim Conway. If you're driving around and see flags flying at half-staff, it's because of JFK.

KWTX is reporting that back in 1962 JFK proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day. In addition, the week that includes the 15th will be known as National Police Week.

It's a day/week to remember the brave men and women officers who've lost their lives in the line of duty.

This is a national day, so all flags should be going at half-staff.

The McLennan County Peace Officer Memorial is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Indian Spring Park.
