Atmos Energy Feeding Families in Franklin

KWTX's Christy Soto reported that volunteers in Franklin were pitching in to feed residents of the town who were affected by the powerful tornado that touched down Saturday.

The tornado that touched down in the southern part of Franklin was a powerful EF3 tornado. An EF3 tornado ranges in speeds from 136 mph to 165 mph.

The volunteers cooking for those affected by the whirlwind tornado, were with Atmos Energy. The volunteers of Atmos Energy were cooking and serving food near Best Western Franklin Town Center Hotel and Suites at U.S. Highway 79 and Center Street.

The volunteers said they will remain there cooking food and serving until they run out. The EF3 tornado smashed through Robertson County Saturday, and caused damages or destruction to over 55 homes in Franklin.

A church under condsturction, a food pantry, a duplex, and a local housing authority also dealt with numerous damages as well. A dozen people were injured from the destruction of the tornado, but no life-threatening injuries were reported.
